In 2017, Skoon started by exploring options for vessels to run fully on electric propulsion. We realised that for this to be successful, batteries had to be standardised and also swappable to better manage charging. We also realised that mobile batteries and hydrogen generators could be used in other applications and combining these markets would make clean energy more affordable. However making these mobile clean energy assets available required a central platform where charging, logistics and monitoring could be managed.
As Skoon, we believe software has incredible potential to accelerate to the clean energy transition. Whether a construction site, film set or festival, batteries make for a clean alternative to diesel power and now they can be easily listed and rented online. In 2019, Skoon launched the world’s first battery sharing marketplace, Skoon Sharing. At our core, we are a software company, managing the infrastructure to support a network of mobile clean energy solutions. Our team’s focus is to make our software platform easy to use and valuable for clean energy storage asset owners and energy users. Now we are moving forward with the goal of making accessing clean energy affordable, reliable and simple.
